Nationality: Citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan.
Age Limit (as of 01.08.2026):
- Grade C: 18 to 30 years (Born between 02.08.1996 and 01.08.2008).
- Grade D: 18 to 27 years (Born between 02.08.1999 and 01.08.2008).
- Standard age relaxations apply (5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, etc.)

📝 Exam Pattern & Selection
SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2026
The recruitment consists of two main stages: a written exam and a stenography skill test.
1. Computer Based Examination (CBT)
This is an objective paper consisting of 200 questions to be solved in 2 hours.

General Intelligence & Reasoning: 50 Questions / 50 Marks

General Awareness: 50 Questions / 50 Marks

English Language & Comprehension: 100 Questions / 100 Marks

Negative Marking: 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
2. Skill Test in Stenography
Candidates who clear the CBT cutoff will be called for the skill test. This is qualifying in nature, but mandatory.

Grade C Speed: 100 words per minute (w.p.m.)

Grade D Speed: 80 words per minute (w.p.m.)

Transcription: You will be given a 10-minute dictation and then asked to transcribe it on a computer.
